Hindsight is 20/20. Even if you think the snow up top is looking a slight bit more shallow than last week... don't be fooled, the weight is still there
Warmer weather such as the couple of nice days last week in our area, simply condense the lighter fluffier stuff into a more solid harder ice like crust. The weight is still there. Homeowners think they are safe from problems, only to be slapped with a catastrophe of sorts. We have seen this too many times to keep track of. Safety first, call a professional for advice. We were just introducing our winter services of snow and ice removal. While in a very heavily snow covered neighborhood, we visited with people to let them know about the importance of getting that weight off their roof... Unfortunately, they declined thinking the problem was minimal and the $275.00 was too much. While driving by a few days later during service calls this is what we saw. I've kept this picture in my office since, hindsight is truly 20/20! 40 cm of snow on a 24 ft. surface weighs 12 tonnes. And as it thaws and refreezes ice is an even bigger danger.
